Fighting for Truth and Justice in the Mideast: PLAIN TALK

PLAIN TALK
03/27/2007
We are constantly perceived as a creature of Israel by the rest of the world and especially the Arab and Muslim peoples, whose relatives, the Palestinians, have been forced to leave their land. Then, to add insult and deprivation to injury, the Israeli government and military have abused and imprisoned them unmercifully for 60 years, just like the Nazis did with the Jews in Germany.
Anyone who knows anything about the dynamics of our human psychology knows that this is a classic example of how to create hatred!
If this festering injustice is never solved, the seeds of another holocaust could be in the making. History does repeat itself when we fail to resolve the crimes of our past.
And, again, for those who understand human psychology and our response to interminable humiliation and confinement - it is obvious that these unscrupulous “leaders” who control the government and military action of the non-democratic state of Israel are sowing the seeds of the next Holocaust for themselves! !
Why can’t they - and why can’t we thru the government of the United States require that Israel deal with their neighbors (whose land they took) with kindness and consideration?
Why can’t they and our present Administration in Washington and our Congress (both Senate and House of Representatives) stop being the obsequious patrons of Israel and instead, once and for all, become the fair and even-handed arbiters of peace that we’ve always claimed to be?
Why did President Bush and our “rubber stamp – bought and paid for” Congress (both House and Senate) allow and support Israel’s July attack on Lebanon - okaying the bombing and killing of a thousand innocent Lebanese civilians (Muslims and Christians alike) in their own homes and apartment buildings in Beirut resulting in the destruction of the entire infrastructure of Lebanon - airports, bridges, power grids, and roads and the blockading of their country? All was accomplished with U.S. planes, arms and ammunition including cluster bombs used in civilian areas in violation of U.S. export laws.
Shame on the present weak government of the United States for allowing such injustice to go unchallenged.
As a loyal, dedicated citizen of the USA with an appreciation of the world we live in - and all its people… I call for a complete removal from office of all who stood in the way of a unified international call for a ceasefire in Lebanon. We stood alone in siding with Israel to continue the war, which resulted in the death of thousands of human beings and the destruction of their country!
AND – I call for my country, our country (and I’ll be happy to “lead the charge”) if need be, to bring into being, the immediate fair and honest creation of a free and honorable Palestinian State - equal in every way to the State of Israel that stands beside it.
And - I call on the USA to deal equally and fairly with Palestine as with the state of Israel that we fostered and promoted to give Jews a homeland - but not to have them steal more land and abuse the people of Palestine!
We need to settle this grievous injustice against the Palestinian people once and for all.
An independent Palestinian State will never happen without our forceful and dynamic leadership!
The United States has wasted endless time and vast resources over many years in blind support of Israel. This blemish on our international prestige must end!
The most horrible manifestation of this corrosive relationship is our
4-year war and occupation of Iraq.
We now know that the most aggressive advocates for this disastrous war were the virulently pro-Israel neocons in the Bush administration, including Vice President Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, as well as Wolfowitz, Perle, Libby, Franklin, Wurmser, and Elliot Abrams.
And if they have their way, this tragic history will repeat itself and we will attack Iran as well without fully exploring all possible diplomatic possibilities.
By liberating ourselves from the overtly pro-Israel bias that has dominated our Middle East policies, we can free up vast resources of capital and good will.
We can exercise a pro-Middle East policy that benefits everyone – once again becoming “That bright city on the hill” that Ronald Regan so eloquently stated.
