Let Me Introduce Myself

I am “Citizen Paul”.

And as I prepare to speak my mind, and to follow my heart, in this novel way I want to share with all who have similar and overlapping concerns who I am and my reasons for speaking up.

All of us together are living at a time of unparalleled historic dangers, challenges, and opportunities. I am well aware how privileged I am to be an American, to be a proud ‘citizen’ of a country with such cherished principles and ideals as well as ‘Superpower’ status.

I am also well aware that with this special citizenship comes considerable responsibility — especially for one like myself who has benefited so much from the freedoms and liberties our country holds so dear. For I have been so fortunate to be able to learn about our country and our world through so many experiences, travel to some 55 nations, and through relationships with so many people here at home in America and in the many foreign lands where I have worked.

And so now, I feel the special obligation to boldly speak up about the great dangers we all face, about the many challenges with which we all must deal, and about the historic opportunities that modern science and our globalized international community offer us all.

Citizen Paul It is now my goal to speak up in the most straightforward, honest, truthful, insightful and creative ways I possibly can.

Welcome to “Citizen Paul.”

For if ever there was a time to ’speak truth to power’ and to stimulate thought, discussion and debate about serious and creative solutions to the problems we face as Americans as well as citizens of the modern world that time is surely now.

While I as Citizen Paul take special pride in being an American I also relish being a citizen of our ever-more-interdependent world. For the American future and the future of us all on our shrinking and troubled planet are now more interwoven than even before in history.

As Citizen Paul I feel the urgency of a Dialogue of Peoples as the corrective antedote to what for some has already become a Clash of Civilizations.

As Citizen Paul I see the desperate need to deal with world hunger and population, the global environment and more equitable resource distribution, weapons proliferation and world order, to name some of the major issues with which I will deal.

As Citizen Paul I feel the imperative to try to offer up creative straight-talking solutions to the man-made conflicts and tensions plaguing world society from Iraq to Palestine to Nepal, major conflicts with which I will begin — in my effort to develop a true and wise foreign policy for America.
